XP: Anyone dealing with gastroparesis (slow stomach emptying)?

Hi

We took Abby (born at 31 w) yesterday to get tested for slow stomach emptying (gastroparesis) and from initial reports (from the techs) her stomach seems to empty slowly.  Just for some background, we did this b/c she has VERY frequent vomiting and constantly refuses food.  We also did a UGI, 2 sigmoidoscopies, and we are doing a swallow study next week.  I am waiting to hear from her GI to see exactly what's going on, but has anyone else dealt with this?  What can you tell me about it?

  • I can't remember the girl's screen name on the Bump, but one of her twin sons has this.  Here's a link to her blog: https://lettenbergertwins.blogspot.com/

She goes into great detail what they're going through.

  • DS has gastroparesis.  We tried erthyomicin first since it seemed to have the lowest risk of side effects, but it didn't work.  He's now on reglan which is helping a little more, but he still doesn't eat alot and if he does eat when he still has food in his stomach he throws up.  GL!
