Babies: 0 - 3 Months

When did your LO roll?

DS is just shy of 3 months and I've noticed the last couple of days when he's been doing tummy-time, he'll start kicking his legs really hard and start rocking to one side, but he can't get completely rolled over. Does it seem early for him to be trying to do this? I feel like he's close to getting it too, but I thought it would take longer....he hasn't tried to roll back to belly at all, but he does like to be on his side instead of his back when he sleeps (he does it himself).?

?When did your LO roll back to belly or belly to back??

Re: When did your LO roll?

  • Still waiting for DD to roll.  I think she will be able to say and spell the word roll at this point before she every actually does it.

  • he rolled a few times between 3 and 5 months, but he just really rolled all the way over and meant to roll for the first time yesterday.  I say that he meant to do it now because when he did it before he would just lay there like "what just happened??"...yesterday he was actually thinking about what he was doing and was proud of himself when he did roll.  he did it 3 time in a row.
  • sometime between 6-8 weeks the first time, and i thought it was a fluke.  he rolls tummy to back consistently and has been since about 8-10 weeks.
  • belly to back - 15 weeks (3.5 months!)  she did that kicking thing for a few weeks too - and then one day she just got all the way over - and SHOCKED herself.

Back to belly, she's just done in the last few days - she's done it in her sleep 2 nights ago and then the next morning she rolled over while we were playing with her in bed.

  • belly to back...two weeks ago

back to belly...hasn't happened yet, but he hates being on his belly, so I don't see him attempting this anytime soon.

  • Back to belly he was 7 weeks.  It only happened once so it was a coincidence.  He hasn't tried since.
  • He really just started doing it a few days ago!

  • He went from belly to back around 4 weeks. he's done it several times since, but no back to tummy yet.

I am right there with you!  No rolls here yet either!

  • DS does the kicking thing too, but he doesn't seem close to rolling over (either way). DD rolled belly to back at 7 weeks, and back to belly around 4.5 months.
  • DS can roll back to tummy...but doesn't do it too often.  He could do that around 4 months.  Just last week he started to roll from his tummy to his back.  The minute you put him on his tummy, he rolls.  He HATES tummy time....maybe that's why he 'learned' to roll over so fast!

  • He rolled belly to back at 3 months exactly.  He goes up on his side from his back all the time but just hasn't figured out he can kick on over to his belly - then again he doesn't care to be on his belly really!
  • DS just started rolling over back to belly a little over a week ago (so almost 4 months). He hasn't stopped since. Anytime he is on the floor that is all he does. For some reason he just doesn't seem to want to go from belly to back though.
