  • Pit Boxer Mix! He is such a great guy. I am so happy to have him in my life and before him I never thought of a pit bull.

I thought so - he is really cute!  Pitbulls get a bad reputation, my pittie is the best dog I have ever had around people, dogs, and other animals..  I can walk her anywhere without a leash on and she stays right with me.  She has never made an aggressive move towards another animal or human in her life.  My 4 yo tells people we have a "bricious (viscious) pitbull who will lick you to death!"  Its so funny!

I just love your dog's pic he is just too cute!  I thought he had a "pittie" face but didnt want to offend if he wasnt...  : )

You know I had to jump in on this conversation!!  I too always want to ask what kind of dog, but never want to offend.  MsZoeB, your puppy is so cute!!  I have 3 pits myself and just love them to death.

LOL, cowgirl...I always say that about our dogs to, they are so vicious, they would lick you to death first.  :)

  • Thanks ladies! He is great and also has the licking problem. We have never had any scares for kids or people but some dogs just set him off.

Once we get settled in the new house we will be able to devote some time to retraining this out of him. I hate being afraid that someone is going to see our Pit getting mouthy with another dog and that be the end of things.

  • Our oldest male has a little problem with other dogs and I'm not sure why.  He was very socialized as a puppy and was always around other dogs.  But, once my FIL rotteweiler bit him, not to bad, but enough.  I just wonder if he remembers that and makes him leary of other dogs.

It sucks that people will only think b/c he's a pit, that is why he is getting mouthy with another dog.  But, I know what you mean.  We have little dogs in our neighborhood and they bark and snap at people and other dogs, but if mine do it they look at us like we are terrible for having pits.  When they are actually so sweet and loving and only want to make you happy.

  • Beth (blondie), of course I knew you would jump in the conversation, LOL.  I guess I should have paged you too..  Pitties are a girls best friend!

And my pittie raised my chihuahua puppy from 6 weeks up!  When we are out places with both of them my chihuahua is the first one to bark, growl, and otherwise cause commotion.  My pittie never says a word!  Its so cute!  Remember pits are supposed to eat little dogs, guess Jewels didnt get that message

  • I know, again our oldest male doesn't care for other dogs, but little dogs he is fine with.  His best friend growing up besides our female and now the new one was a yorkie poo.

It's funny too our dogs only bark at other dogs from inside the house or from inside the fence.   But, if we walk them and there are other dogs, they could care less.  I was walking Bailey one day and a dog in someone's front yard, not on a leash ran up on us barking and growling and did not look nice and Bailey looked at him like he was nuts and looked at me like are we going to keep going.  Bailey never barked, growled, or showed anyt indication she would do anything to this dog.
