Babies: 0 - 3 Months

Question for formula momies...

How many ounces should an 8 week old be consuming in 24-hrs?

Hope all is well

  • enfamil.com should have a chart that tells you how much babies of certain age should drink on average. hth.

  • Mine was finishing 2-21/2 oz if I remember correctly.

  • Mine will vary from 4oz per feeding to 6oz per feeding.  He's a beast.

ETA:  He is feeding anywhere from every 2 - 4 hours.  At night he goes longer.

  • I think the rule is that they should be eating 2-2.5 times their weight.
  • My DS eats both pumped breastmilk and formula, and takes 4-5 oz per bottle.  He takes 7 bottles in a 24 hour period, but he's a big guy weighing in at 14 lbs 2 oz at his 2 month appt.  Our pedi said what we're feeding him is completely fine, and we don't need to scale it down despite him being in the 95 percentile.

  • multiply your lo's weight in kg by 6 and thats what they need in a 24 hr period---and you can do the conversion from kg to lbs online!! my 8lb 6oz dd needs 22oz/day...
