Babies: 0 - 3 Months

When did your LO push up with arms while on tummy?

DS is just over 10 weeks old, he tolerates tummy time for a few minutes. He has great head control (so says pedi), but doesn't really push himself up with his arms at all yet while on his tummy. He'll lift his head sometimes (not always), but never push with arms. Too soon? When did your LO do this?

  • LO one did at 2 mos, but not so much now.

  • Mine is doing it already.  All these "milestones" vary greatly for every kid.  I wouldn't worry about it.
  • My dd still isn't doing it really well. She'll lift up and have her hands there, but you can tell she's really lifting with her back, not pushing with her hands. She's ahead on other milestones but behind on this one I think, we'll find out at the pedi's tonight.
  • DD did somewhere around 2 months. She does it even better now and tries to pull herself around.

  • I think my son was around 8 weeks...
  • My DD just started doing this yesterday -- DS is usually a day or two behind her.
  • Mine isn't doing it yet either. he has had great head control form the beginning. But when it comes to tummy time- he just lays there and cries. He will move his head around slightly, but does not use his arms or raise his head to far up. I know all babies are different but its hard to wait sometimes- when other babies are doing it!

My LO is just like that! He had good head control - he sits well in the Bumbo and holds it up great when he's being held do I'm not too worried. He also tends to push up more when he's on the Boppy rather than the floor. I'm still gonna check with the ped on Monday.
