Let's talk about vaccine schedules

DH and I talked about switching to an alternative vaccine schedule for DS starting at his 4 month appointment and just spreading them out a bit more, but still giving him all of the vaccines. We've been doing a lot of research, and I'm leaning towards sticking with the doctor recommended schedule for a variety of reasons. I'm curious what other moms have decided to do and why. Our decision will be based on research and a discussion with our doctor, but I was just curious to hear what others have decided to do since what to do about vaccinations is such a current hot topic.

  • DS just got his 2 months vaccines yesterday and he's 4 1/2 months old.

  • He does not go to daycare and we are just now able to get out because of the weather.
  • we are following Dr. Sear's delayed schedule.

and when he gets the MMR it will be broken up into 3 different shots.

We just recently switched pedi's because our last one did not approve of this.

  • We stick to the AAP's schedule. The only thing we mess with is the 12 mo. shots. Our pedi doesn't do a 15 mo. well child visit, so she lumps those in with the ones she does at a year. I don't like that many at one time, so I bring them in later for the 15 mo. vaccines.
  • Dr. Sears suggested alternate schedule for us too.  This is what we feel most comfortable with.  Our son is being vaccinated - but we go once a month rather than once every 2 months so the shots are more spread out (he only ever gets 2 vaccines at a time so less chance of even a minor reaction) and we skipped a few.  Works for us.

The MMR can longer be broken up, check the Dr. Sers website. We planned on doing this but Merck, stopped making the individual vaccs. You can no longer order them.Tongue Tied
