Adoption

Sharing information

For those of you doing foster care to adopt, when you have children who are in state custody, how much information do you typically share with family?

What are some "typical" questions that get asked and how do you respond to those?

Re: Sharing information

  • Our state (NJ) does not allowing sharing of ANY information with anyone.  Family and friends obvioulsly know his name and DOB.

    But they do not know:
= Why he was put into care
= What the "plan" is for his mother
= What his mother's problems or issues are
= Basically, everything regarding his case

Everyone basically knows that he was taken from a bad situation and his mother has a lot of work to do.
