xp: am I being overprotective about this swine flu stuff?

I was going to take the boys to the hospital where they were born today because my OBs office is there and I need to have her fill out some paperwork before I can return to work in a couple weeks.  I decided this morning after 3 questionable cases of swine flu in Massachusetts that maybe bringing them to the hospital where so many people go and are sick wasn't such a good idea.  I feel like I'm giving in to the mass hysteria this outbreak may cause, but I also don't want to risk getting my babies sick.  I could just fax the paperwork I guess.  The nurses have been asking when I call to see the boys, but I think it makes more sense to wait.  Am I being dumb?

    I don't think you are being paranoid. I wouldn't bring an infant to a hospital regardless. However, if your OB's office is in a separate area than the sick (contagious) patients, I wouldn't worry about it.

    Being a parent means being overprotective.  I'm starting to get pretty paranoid about it.  I'm not too far from NYC and there have been 45 cases there.  My MIL is traveling by airplane tomorrow from Utah to NYC.  I'm thinking about making her wait a couple days to see DS just to make sure she's not sick.

    I dont think you are being overprotective. My DH wont let his parents come over and see our son b/c they have been in the airports traveling! You can never be to safe :)

    I'm glad to see that.  I feel like I'm a nut for not wanting to see MIL right away.  I hope DH understands.

    Not at all. I don't like taking DD to the hospital when there isn't an outbreak of something just b/c there are so many sick people.

    Nope you are being a smart momma!  I'm trying to stay calm about this to, to keep my sanity I am going to put the same restictions on DD that I did when she was a newborn and I didn't want her exposed to things.
