Eh, I'm here. That's about as good as it gets right now. I'm tired and hormonal. I snapped at DH this afternoon because once again the dog was in the bed with him when I got home from work yesterday. He is not supposed to be. "Puppy was scared" was the response I got.
I can't even fathom what a 26fr foley looks like. We usually use 5fr!!!
LOL We use them for cervical ripening. It's actually a great concept...no meds involved. If baby doesn't seem to tolerate it, remove foley, voila! No residual medication to worry about.
I prayed for this child, and the LORD has granted me what I asked of him. 1Samuel 1:27

Hmm, interesting. New uses for everything! We use umbilical catheters for a foley if the 5fr won't fit. I've even had difficulty getting a 3.5fr in place!

I've been snappy at my DH here & there lately too. I'm really, really tired tonight. I'm working 3 in a row (tonight is night 2) which I hate. DH graduates on Friday so I wanted the weekend off. I'll appreciate it later but I'm suffering now. I'm in charge tonight (Wed) & I'm somewhat dreading it....I'll be even MORE tired with no babies.

Oh wow! I can't even imagine having to do that. I sometimes have troube cathing full term babies (the few that I've had to do). I couldn't dream of hitting a hole that small! What's the youngest preemie you have taken care of?

This is night 2 of 3 for me, too. I needed the weekend off for my baby shower with DH's family. This is actually week 2 of 5 working 3 in a row. I must have been crazy when I made this schedule. Good luck charging tonight! I don't charge...no desire to do it, either!

Hitting a hole that small is not easy - especially in a girl! At least on the boys you can easily see what you are aiming for. I've taken care of some questionable 23 weekers before - supposedly 23 weeks, but looked a lot smaller. I think the smallest weighed about 330 grams, if I remember correctly.
Oh my gosh! That is super tiny! The youngest I've ever taken care of is a 27 weeker that delivered at home. He was only at my facility long enough for Children's to come and get him. He was actually pretty strong, though.

Yeah, she was really tiny. She actually did pretty well, from what I remember - made it home, anyway, although I don't know what residual problems she had.
Ok guys, I am worknig with this nurse tonight who totally needs her hand held with everything. She has the sickest kid in my pod, frequent blood gases, etc, and has asked me so many questions! I think she's been a nurse longer than me, too!!

Ugh. I hate that.

Re: Any nightshifters around?
Not a good question for two NICU nurses.

LOL Good luck with that! I forget...how much time difference is there in Scotland?

Me too!
4 more hours to go for me....
I wish I liked that stuff...although right now, nothing seems to be doing the trick!!
