  • I would name your baby girl Madison. I seriously doubt that anyone would hear your Madison's name and think "OMG! I bet you named her after your DH's ex's baby didn't you?"

If it was something more uncommon I could see be more worried about it, but there are so many Madisons, Madalines and Maddie's out there that I don't think anyone would think anything about it.

  • It's not the end of the world.  You have 3 choices.

    1.  Name her Maddison anyways (which is a dumb spelling, what's with the extra d?)

    2.  Compromise and name her Addison or Madeline, etc.

    3.  Name her something else entirely.

  • Well, first does your DH even like your name choice and what are his feelings about the matter? If he likes the name and has no issues with the ex situation, name her Maddison. It really isn't that big of a deal :)
  • 911? ?Seriously?

    ?

    Grow up.?

  • Dude, calm down.  Do you even know that you're having a girl?  If so, then you can still name your child whateverthehell you want to.

I don't understand what makes this situation an emergency, my dear.

    Ditto this 100%.

  • This is as much of an emergency as that lady who called because they didn't put enough shrimp in her fried rice....

Why not name her maddison? Who cares, she is your DH exgf.  Why is she even a part of your life?

  • Does your DH have any thoughts on naming the baby Maddison - or is it just you that doesn't want matchy names? I'd just not pay attention to DH's ex-girlfriend's kid...I can't imagine you spend time with them.

But - if it's DH's problem, or if you actually see them (why?), go with something similar, like Madelyn. You have a lot of time...I was set on a name at the beginning, and we finalized on Savannah at like 30w.

  • name your baby what you want, but i wouldn't use the spelling maddison, madison is better. i really wouldn't use it because it's so overused, but you might not have a problem with its popularity.

  • Is Maddison #1 dh's kid? If not, go ahead and name her maddison or maddysynn or madison or addison or emily or eunice - whatever works for you and dh. If Maddison #1 is dh's, then you have to pick something different.

  • no, do not name her maddison. It is spelled wrong and it is so overused. It is the jessica of the present day. I can't believe people are still considering this name.

911?  Really?  You're not far enough along to know if you're even having a girl!  And you have 28 weeks left!

You can name her Maddison if you want (even spelled like that - ugh) or you can pick something else, preferably with your husband.  Nymbler suggests that you may like Aubrie (or Aubrey), Jordyn (or Jordan), Payton, Jaidyn, Jaylin, Jaelyn, Skylar, Sydni, Sydnie, Addyson, Caitlynn, or Mackenzie.  Mostly spelled wrong... i wonder why.

Amen  sister. It's a fine name, but I am usually very disappointed when I hear yet another baby girl is named Madison - even Addison at this point. Way to popular for my taste.

    I agree?

  • Why should your husband's ex-girlfriend's choice affect your baby name in any way, unless there's something I'm missing.  Is she someone you see on a regular, day-to-day basis?  If not, who cares what name she chose.

    bwahahaha!

And ditto, completely.  You don't know what you're having and you have MONTHS to decide.  Take a deep breath and realize this isn't an emergency.

  • I sort of have the same problem. I loved the name Megan, and was thinking about using it for a future child for the LONGEST time. At least that was until my most serious bf (before my husband) had broken up with me and gotten engaged two weeks later to his now-wife Megan.
