Noise machine

Do they work? My DS fights sleeping big time and is up pretty much all night. We are exhausted! Today instead of picking him right up when he cries, I decided to go in and rub his belly. As soon as I said Shhh in a soft voice, his head turned to the side and eyes shut! Everytime I do this it seems to soothe him so wondering if those noise machines (not sure what they are called) work?

    We use one, but we always have to drown out the dogs etc. The hairdryer will make him stop crying immediately, its my secret trick

    We use the noise machines all the time for our DD. It gives her something else to focus on besides whatever it is making her upset and she totally forgets that she was unhappy. haha
