Breath holding??

DS is usually a very happy baby...but he has been sick the past week and been much more fussy, and will scream hysterically when I use the nose bulb thingy to clean out his nose! ?It has to be done, but I just hate when he cries and holds his breath...the other day DH started to blow in his face and he just held his breath for even longer and started to turn blue! ?I screamed at DH to quit doing that and scooped up DS to comfort him...DH felt horrible (I mean, this man doesn't even know what size diapers DS wears, where would he get the idea to do that??)

My SMIL suggested squirting him in the face with a water bottle...ummm, no, DS isn't a cat, thank you very much!! ? I couldn't even believe she suggested something like that, she said she used to do it with her daughter...

You guys have any ideas or should I just leave it???

    I gently blow on his face and he takes a deep breath in. So since that didn't work for you I guess just wait it out? He will start to breathe again on his own.
