We watch the news at work all day because we have to know if some insanity hit one of hospitals or the regions near the hospitals we support.
So we have to deal with these updates on the flu outbreak every 5 minutes.
I'm tired of hearing about it. Maybe I'm not educated enough on the actual problem, but closing down school systems in this country because of it? Calling it a possible threat to national security? Seems like overkill.
If you want to shed some light on this for me I'd appreciate it, but otherwise what do you think?
Re: NGPR: Anyone else sick of hearing about the flu?
Personally I think they are making a bigger fuss than it's worth. It's not the first "outbreak" of it in the U.S.
They tell people common sense things like "wash your hands, don't touch your face, stay home when sick"... it's like the regular flu... or perhaps I'm missing something and completly in the dark. But I think it's a waste of emotion b/c ppl are getting all panic-stricken over it.
**Edit** The people that use commonsense will continue and won't get sick/spread illnesses, and those that don't, the warnings are talking to a brick wall.
I would just like the news to stop reporting it every 3 min. I like to be updated but not that often thank you.
I'm getting sick of it. While I do feel it is something that needs to be taken care of, I don't feel it's the national matter that it's being made out to be.
That being said, there is at least one nestie on my local board that lives very close to the high school where so many people have it, and it's pretty scary when it's so close.
I think this is being blown way out of proportion. They did the same thing with the bird flu a couple years ago. Using words like "pandemic" when there is really only a few small outbreaks in concentrated areas just makes people freak out. So dumb.

I had some Mexican colleagues who were going to come this week, now they're cancelling all of their plans.
There was an outbreak in Ohio near our sister plant, so they've shut down schools.
It is kind of scary.
I told my co-worker I was going home sick today....sick of hearing about the swine flu (but it didn't work
). I work as an administrative assistant in a large animal vet/food supply company and have had to listen to all the salesmen talk to their customers and others about it for the first 3-4 hours of the day. They had on the news at noon telling people that they couldn't get the swine flu from eating pork....seriously people thought that!
I don't have the TV on all day so no, I'm not sick of it yet. I like to hear the latest especially since they suspect 2 people in LA have died from it, and they were young.
I like to keep informed!
