Is it too soon to buy a Bathing Suit?

i'm only about 8 - 9 weeks but all the cute selections are out now. I have NO idea what I'm going to look like come July and wanted something versatile I could possibly wear even when not pregnant next year.

has anyone bought a suit this early on? Do you buy a regular suit and go up? a maternity suit?

so confused.  The pool at my parents place will open in a few weeks and I'll be the lady all bulbous walking around stuff that doesn't fit her.

i may add that i look, in my opinion, like i'm 4 months pregnant already, all bloaty and puffy and poofy and stuff.Ick!

Re: Is it too soon to buy a Bathing Suit?

  • I ordered a maternity suit online 3 weeks ago b/c it was cute and affordable. I decided not to wait because then I wouldn't be able to find one. I ordered it in my regular size but it's maternity style. We have a beach vacation planned for August so it should work for that. It's a tankini style and it fits but the tummy part is huge right now.

  • I am waiting, but like you said all the cute ones are out right now. So I really have no idea.

  • Congrats WW!

I bought a cute maternity one with DS that I wore afterwards. I think the key is finding one for that purpose. I got a tankini and it worked well for both.

  • I bought a maternity one last year and was about a month behind where I am now... it was nice to have the extra room but it was definitely too big.  This year, it should fit me just perfectly... I hope :)

You may be able to find regular tankini styles that are long enough to cover your belly... I stuck to the maternity tankini style.  A one piece is even more tedious to get in and out of while you are pregnant than when you aren't... so I don't recommend going that way.

  • i bought the cutest maternaty bathing suit wth my daughter. it was black and tied in the back and around the neck. but it was nong enough to cover my bell. i wore that thing upuntil this last summer. lol i say buy one just make sure it had ties so its ajustable to whatever size you are at that point.
  • Macy's has some super cute tankini ones right now. ?I bought one yesterday in my regular size, because I feel like there is room to spare over the belly part and I definitely won't feel comfortable with my belly hanging out once I actually start to show (not that there is ANYTHING wrong with this though - I just don't feel comfortable). ?I definitely feel the same way though - very bloated and not feeling like I'm only 9 weeks! ?Good luck!!
  • I bought a regular tankini today to just get me through this in betweeen stage.
  • I bought a tankini from VS in 1st tri, but will need to upgrade to a maternity soon!
