Water Aerobics

Does anyone know where I can find a water aerobics class in the Metro Detroit area.

Re: Water Aerobics

  • I would check your local YMCA.  Parks & Rec may also run one at your local high school (especially with summer coming).  The gym I go to offers them as part of membership.  If your city has an aquatics center (I know Troy does) they may also have them.  I would say start with your local Parks & Rec and go from there.  Good luck.  I wish I had your motivation :-)

  • OMG

Pregnancy brain is killing me.  I forgot I have a lifetime membership at Fitness USA.  I haven't been in many moons.

I have to do something.  I'm 39 and overweight.  I did so well on Weight Watchers.  Now I've regained the weight and pregnant now. I have to keep this weight down.

  • I hear ya!  You should see me at work.  The past 2 weeks I feel like I am forgetting everything!  I just turned 30 and I'm on the "fluffy" side too.  I have a membership to Lifetime Fitness and I am so nervous about others seeing me in a suit I won't do any water activities.  My hubby just rolls his eyes at me. I stick to the cardio area.  Honestly, I have gained WAY less this time than I did with my son when I was pregnant.  I am 17 weeks and down 4 lbs (I think) which is up a few pounds from the first trimester.  I did have bad morning sickness, but I really think your body adjusts.  I gained around 55 with son (15 in the 1st tri alone) and will NEVER do that again!

  • Your school district should offer classes through a highschool.  I live in Macomb County & there are water aerobics offered @ L'Anse Creuse North & Central.  They are year round, w/ a few weeks off in between sessions.  I belong to the YMCA & they have daily water aerobics in the morning & night.  They'e a lot of fun & you really get a good workout.  Don't worry about feeling self conscious- I've seen all different body types in the water aerobics classes I take.
  • The Macomb Parks & Rec offers water aerobics. Page 10 of the catalog:

  • Beaumont also offers them in conjunction with the Beverly Hills Club.  I go on Tuesdays and Thursdays but they also offer Mondays and Wednesdays.  It's $100 for 6 weeks, 2x per week.  It's free if you're a member of the BHC.
