Sad to be losing this... PIP

I worked my butt off on this room about a year ago for DS, and we're about to be putting our house on the market.  It makes me so sad, because if we weren't selling and we were having another boy, I'd keep the room for the new baby.

Unfortunately I must admit that I never fully finished it like I planned.  I did the stripes all by myself and I was pretty darn proud of them.  We went with a nautical theme for DS and had a lot of cute things.  There are now navy blue curtains hanging to the floor over the window.  They're tab top and have little sail boats sewn onto the tab parts instead of buttons.  The crib isn't there anymore either, and of course there isn't a tv chillin' on the floor.  The little chair is navy blue, and it's covered because the kitties decided to make it their home and I got sick of the cat hair.

  • That room is pretty amazing! And, I'm sure that if you can do something like this once... just think of all the possibilities that you have for a whole, new room!

  • That room is really cute, I am sure that you will be able to do something just as good at your new house! We did stripes in the nursery and they turned out really great, but I dont think that I could get my self to go through that again!

I don't know... those stripes killed me.  I swore I would NEVER do it again.  It's especially worse since I have a bad foot and knees, and shouldn't have done all that to begin with, but I had a vision and DH was not seeing it.  LOL.  I just feel like it was all a waste, we hardly got enough use out of it and DS didn't get to spend enough time in it either, he'll forget.

Oh well, hopefully if we sell the house someone else can enjoy it.  Fingers crossed!  LOL.

  • Nice room! ?I bet there will be some buyers who will be excited to have a room painted as beautifully as that!

  • What a great room! I totally understand.. we're about to move and I'm really sad about losing DD's nursery (very similar to yours except in yellow, also stripes on top). I'm excited about decorating her new room in the new house, and getting to decorate a new nursery for the new baby.. but like you, we won't be doing stripes again! We didn't even do it ourselves last time but it was just way too much work and $$ so we'll stick w/ one color this time :)

  • I'm sure it must be really sad, especially since you worked so hard and have great memories with that room!

Trying sis, but I don't think it's possible.

Though I just wandered over to the Nursery Decor board (I just noticed that!) and now I'm visioning 8 billion new nurseries and kids rooms that I want to do.  Maybe I should get into interior design on the side.  LOL.   Painting new stripes isn't sounding so horrible anymore.  I guess I'll just wait and see!

  • I know how you feel. I lived with my mom when DS was born and I worked very hard on his nursery. It had pale yellow walls with blue-green shelves, closet, and the outline of all of the whinnie the pooh characters on the walls. My mom left the room alone and everytime we go visit I'm sad that DS had to leave his room.

  • Do you mind posting any pictures of details you had in the room. We are doing a nautical theme as well. I love getting new ideas. I have my inspiration nursery in my blog a few posts down.

I love that room too! I think it is very similar to the color we are using.

  • Wow, what a nice job.  Just think of the possibilities with the new place!

I'll take some pictures later today and send you a PM when I have them done, and I'll add them here.  I don't really have any pictures of the details yet!

I got a lot of wooden things from Michaels and painted them myself.  I have a ships wheel hanging on one wall.  I have sailboat wall hooks on another wall.  I did two cube shelves and a lighthouse frame, too.  Some of the stuff I did never even got hung up.  Oops...
