Trying to Get Pregnant

Saw My Ob/gyn Today

I went in to tell him that we've now completed all the tests he recommended (b/w, u/s, HSG and DH had a SA through his Dr.) and everything has been normal so far.

We just started cycle #10.  He said the next step would be a fertility specialist and gave me his name.  I asked if there was any more testing I could do through him, but he said he is not versed on the current fertility test/treatments and that since it's not his expertise he'd send me on.

We talked about possible tests...I brought up some that I'd heard were done sometimes (post-coital, hampster egg, endometrial biopsy)...he said he thought those had all fallen out of favor but the specialist would know more.  We talked about possible treatments...he said maybe they'd start with Clomid, etc.

At this point I'm not sure whether I should just wait the full 12 months since the initial tests have come back normal or go now.  I'm 29.  I'm trying really hard to "relax" - but I wish I could go back in time and relax from the start, b/c I've been pretty anxious all along and I wonder if that's had any effect.

Anyway, thanks for reading, and any input on whether to wait or not is appreciated!

Re: Saw My Ob/gyn Today

  • Knowing me, I would go, but you have to do what's best for you.
  • Loading the player...
  • more then likely, I'd call, especially if that was my doctor's advice and knowing it could take at least a month of 2 before I'd even get an appointment.

    good luck!

  • I would just call & schedule the appt - itll probably take a month or two to get seen.
  • I would call to see what the appointment wait is like, but also try and take a little reassurance from the fact that all your tests came back normal! GL!
    Dear Bump: You suck.
  • Call and make and appointment, it can take a while to get one. Plus just because you go doesn't mean you have to start on Clomid or anything else, you can go for informational purposes as well!

    I would do this.

  • I don't have much advice for you, but just wanted to say GL.

  • I would make an appt., it took us 4 months to get in. Our RE suggested Clomid but we have decided no meds yet! We are currently doing monitored cycles (timed intercouse) and not sure if you are familiar with them or not but if not you will have blood taken/ultrasounds everyother day or daily (approx CD 9 to surge) until you are surging so you will know exactly when you ovulate. HTH and GL!

  • You can always find out what the wait for an appointment is and go from there. ?I'm all for waiting as I got my BFP on cycle 11 :) ?

    Good luck.?

***************************** Our beautiful daughter was born in October 2009. Turns out she was quite the miracle. After two years of TTC, diagnosed with DOR. A couple of failed treatment cycles later, we decided to let go of our hope for more biological children and explore adoption.
