Has anyone ever had this done? It's similar to an HSG, but they use saline instead.
I'm scheduled to have it done on Friday morning, and have to work all day after my appointment. The doctor's office said I will feel fine and can take tylenol for the pain.
I know HSG's can cause cramping and pain afterwords, but I'm wondering if this process is less of a discomfort.
Re: Saline Sonohysterogram
I've only had an HSG, sorry I can't help.
I'm curious though - why would your Dr. send you for this instead of an HSG?

Not entirely sure, I think my doctor just prefers to do this test. The paperwork I have says he is able to get the same results, without iodine or radiation.
I had it done on my lunch break and went back to work afterward. Inserting the catheter pinched like heck, and was very uncomfortable, but it was over quickly.
This procuedure is to look at your uterine cavity, whereas an HSG looks at your tubes as well. They're different for different reasons. My doctor needed to see my cavity, which is why I had one done.
Really? My RE says he's doing this to confirm my tubes are clear.
Hmmm. I don't know then! My doc didn't say anything about my tubes, and was only looking to see the shape of my uterus and to see if any of my fibroids were inside the cavity. (They aren't.) I didn't realize they could see if there are blockages with a saline u/s.
