Registered for Playtex dropins and my SIL told me...

My SIL is an experienced mother. She's got 5 kids, so I appreciate most of the information she has to share with me. But when she told me the dropins for the Playtex bottles were a "foolish" expense it really rubbed me the wrong way. It's not like I haven't done a ton of research on everything that I've put on my registry. I get that their an added expense. I didn't need the "foolish" comment.

Re: Registered for Playtex dropins and my SIL told me...

  • My sisters both loved the drop-ins.

  • My Sister used them and she loved them.  The others can slip and make a huge mess.  If you are going to bottle feed then I would get them too.  I plan on using them after breast feeding and/or when I pump.
  • Yeah, calling it foolish was unnecessary.  I put those on my registry with Dr. Brown's and Born Free.  I'm fully prepared to get unsolicited advice regarding how they're all a waste of money.  My response--every baby is different and my baby will decide which one he likes.  End of story.
  • I have heard nothing but wonderful things about Playtex drop-ins and plan on using them with our baby. Good thing she does not have to pay for that 'foolish expense' ... no worries for her : )
  • I used them and loved them.  We even found a less expensive brand at either BJs or Costco that fit.  I BFd, pumped and had to switch to formula at 6 months and used them for everything.
  • We used them with ds when he ocassionally got a bottle of breastmilk.  I really like them - they are super easy.  Target sells the liners and they are cheaper.
  • my sil ff her two kids and used them all the time and loved them and i pumped and used bottles every now and again and thats all i used and loved them!  i bought the target brand liners and they worked awesome!
  • I too registered for the playtex bottles with the drop-ins. I like the drop-in bottles better for a couple of reasons. There is no way formula can get in the bottom and not be able to be gotten out. So there for the bottle itself is always clean! Other than that it is easier on their tummies for gas. Not much air can get in.
BabyName Ticker Baby Birthday Ticker Ticker The day you deliver, outside will be fair. Your baby will arrive in the early afternoon. After a labor lasting approximately 44 hours, your child, a boy, will be born. Your baby will weigh about 4 pounds, 1 ounces, and will be 22-1/2 inches long. This child will have light blue eyes and some brown hair.
  • I used them with my DS and loved them.  Yes, it's a little more of an expense, but so much easier to clean and I put convenience over cost, IMO.

  • I use the drop-ins and love them. To each their own.

  • I feel the same way when "experienced" mothers critisize my registry. I have done a ton of research and decided what will work best for us. Every person and child is different so what works for one, may not work for the next. Just ignore your SIL and keep what you want on your registry.

  • I love how people are so willing to give you advice as soon as they find out where you're registered.. that's like my future MIL telling me that this is useless, that you need, this you don't....and we went one time to BRU! I was editing the registry online, but she feels the need to comment on what bedding I picked, what rocker, blah blah blah....its very frustrating...especially because we didn't even tell her about the registry, she found out through the grapevine!
  • that drives me nuts!  we are gonna use the drop ins because we dont currently have a dishwasher and i am not gonna sit there and santize bottles by hand! PITA! so i have opted to use these as it keeps the bottle clean... some ppl need to do this and others need to keep their opinions to themselves!
  • I loved the drop-ins and i'm putting them on my registry this time too. With DD we switch from Avent to the drop-ins at around 6 months. They worked wonders. And they're not forking the bill for your child after the baby shower and once the baby is born, so I don't see why she can submit stupid comments like that.

  • It's what we are going to be using, as a soon to be mother of 3 and with our 2 girls we used the ventair bottles and I hated it if we forgot to wash ASAP, they never got clean, I like the easy cleanup of these and seems they also will be very easy to sant. after use. Do what you want to do, don't listen to others, cause nothing will ever be right!
  • I wouldn't call them foolish but I hated them. They made ds's reflux worse and I was unable to accuretly measure how much he was consuming.
