I leave both her door and ours open at night, even though they are right next to each other and she is 20 feet away. It makes me feel better for some reason and there are less things to bump into when I get up with her in the middle of the night.
We leave it closed because we have four cats and though they seem fine with DS, I don't trust them not to jump in his crib. I don't think they'd ever do anything, but I don't want to take that chance when we are sleeping. I think they'd think the crib is there's since they think anything with four walls is for them.

Closed at nap time, open at night and our door is open at night. We can't use a monitor in our apartment b/c of interference. When we move into our house we'll probably close both doors and use a monitor.
cracked to keep the dog/noise out & air circulation flowing
Exactly.
Except as a kid, we all always slept with our doors closed, since my parents said it was safer that way incase of a fire. Not sure if that's true or not, though...

This is exactly why we keep her door closed. If there were a fire in the house, the door would delay it getting into her room. I was always taught this growing up.

Ok, good! I'm glad someone else has heard of this/done this...I was beginning to wonder since it sounds like many leave their doors open.
Her door closed to keep noise/light out, her crib is right by the door. Our door closed to keep the dog in our room at night. Good to know that it's safer that way too (if there's a fire).
cracked during naps and when i first put him to bed, but i open it all the way when DH and i go to bed bc we no longer use the monitor since he's right across the hall...
Re: baby's door open or closed?
My door is wide open, baby's door is cracked.
I keep DD's door closed to keep out our cat. If we did not have our precious kitty, then I would keep it open.

always closed. We had a house fire in my parents house and learned very quickly that a closed door can save a life.
Our door is closed, too, but that is why we have a monitor.

Hers is closed, ours is cracked. The dogs like to wander in her room and thump their tails around, and can wake her up.
But now that I'm reminded of the fire issue, all the more reason to keep it closed...
