Fat face comment

Since we are on the subject of rude comments, I wanted to share this one with you guys. I was at work lastnight... and a nurse says this to me...

Nurse: (looks up from computer) Oh hey! A new respiratory therapist!

Me: (looks confused) Noooo, its me...

Nurse: Ohhhhh ASHLEY! I didn't realize that was you! Your cheeks have gotten pretty chunky!

Me: (looks confused) What!

Nurse: Hmmm, are you pregnant?

Me: Ha, yaaaa (pissy response)

Nurse: I thought so! You face is getting bigger! Your wearing it in your face! I saw you walk past earlier and I thought it was you, BUT you used to be skinny so I figured you were pregnant.

Me: Did you REALLY just say that?! Thanks a lot, its always nice to hear how fat my face is looking when I honestly thought it looked the same.

Nurse: Well girl, I was just saying... You used to look like her----> (point to paper thin tiny 19 year old CNA)

Me: Hahahahahah ya right, maybe 4 of her... thanks SOO much for your loving compliment! I have to go to the ER, peace.

Seriously! I know people don't filter what they say but I would rather have heard...Ohhh your belly is getting bigger... not my effin face!

Any of you guys get crazy comments not having to do with your belly?

  • those are fightin' words were I come from.  lol.

have you known this nurse for a long time?  That's not the kind of banter I have going back and forth with my nurse.

  • Yeah, if my mothers says "wow you popped AGAIN" one more time, I'm gonna pop her in the face. I'm fvcking PG, I'm supposed to keep getting bigger. Thats the whole idea.

  • I work with her every so often but I work all the floors at the hospital depending on what assignment I get that night. But I didnt know her name when I tried telling the story to another RT. I know a lot of them by face but no name.

I was just in shock anyone would ever say that even to a non pregnant person.

  • my loving mother: oh your nose looks so different.. can  you imagine the snotty judging tone

employee: ooh, you're cheeks are getting puffy!

    another employee:  you're so round!

yet another employee: i can't wait for your ass to get bigger...

Wow! You got the cheek comment too- gotta love stupid people! I know my cheeks will get bigger, but dammit Im only 20 weeks, and I know Ive gained more than I probably should but really... STFU!

And someone said they cant wait for your butt to get bigger?! WTF?

  • Yeah... I overheard the paper thin tiny 19 year old CNA tell another tech that my butt was getting big. When she realized I heard what she said she says to me "you're butt is getting big" and starts laughing. Later on when I told her she was rude, she had the nerve to tell me "it's a compliment...see I don't have a butt". Some compliment. As if I was not already aware of how my body...not just my belly... was changing, to have someone else point it out crushed me. I had my DD 17 months ago and gained nearly 40 lbs (I lost it all plus 6 lbs) so I know how my body changes during pregnancy. I also was gaining less weight this time so I felt better about myself until that comment. It still bothers me and it's been over a month. Sorry you had to deal with this too.

  • Holy crap! People are rudddeee. I think most people get overly sensitive when someone says something about their bump getting big, but she actually said that you used to be skinny and now you aren't. Wow.

    What. A. Bi*tch.
