About 25. I only invited those (well, ggave the list to my hostesses) who I am truly close to and see on a regular basis. There were many others I could have invited, but I personally feel that showers really should be those you are close to - not every person you know. Purely because it's a gift giving event.

I invited about 30, but I am having a separate work shower. ?Also, we are having a meet the baby party later with my Dad's family (parents are divorced).

We invited people we wanted there or felt obligated to invite. No one that we knew couldn't make it, no one just to fill seats. I think we ended up inviting maybe 30. We excluded all family that we never see or talk to, other than a few that my mother (hosting) insisted upon. We did not have a set number going in.?

I've never been to a shower (baby or bridal) with more than about 30 people. More common around here are multiple showers with different circles: work, friends, family. I guess I'd just be considerate of guests when opening gifts. 50 + gifts could take forever to open. Personally, I think a shower should be no more than 3 hours.
I think shower guests should be the number you're comfortable with. If you feel like it should be an intimate affair with only 15 people then thats fine. If you want to invite everybody you know and make it a huge blowout with 100 people, then that's fine. Do what's most comfortable to you...IMO
Thanks girls. I was just starting my list and DH has a huge family (parent's divorced and remarried with kids). I have 36 people right now and I think that a good number with family and friends.
My list is at about 65. I'm guessing about 50 will show up. I don't know anybody that likes shower games so we aren't doing any. Just a few door prizes worth about $60 a piece and favors for everybody. I think it's different in different areas because i've never been to a shower with only 25 people.
