In addition to drier sheets...

We should also not use liquid fabric softener on baby clothes. I read the bottle and it can have the same "un-fireproofing" effect that the sheets do on LO's clothes. Poor baby is going to have staticy, unsmell good clothes!

Re: In addition to drier sheets...

  • I know...I've practically had to pry the Snuggle sheets out of DH's hands: he loooooves the smell of clean laundry when we used to use them on every load.?

  • There are Dryer Magic balls that give you the same effect without using Fabric Softener.  I have seen them at BRU and Target.  Not a bad investment since I've been shocked a million times already, haha...

  • On the eco-friendly board they talk about these wool dryer balls that a Nestie makes and sells on Etsy. They all swear by them. You toss them in the dryer and it takes care of static and softens clothes. It might be worth checking into.

  • Also you can try a damp washcloth in with the clothes.  You can even get some nice smelling essential oil and put it on the cloth to release in the dryer.
  • Buy some dryer balls.  They sell them at BBB.
  • I use Crunchy Clean.. it has everything you'd need in it already, no extra anything needed. Plus it's 100% safe for baby, and the environment! You could try that. I never have a problem with static. I just toss all our clothes in the dryer with some dryer balls after washing them with the CC and they come out fine. Plus there are like 50 scents to choose from.

Me too!  I love walking down to the basement now.  It smells so YUMMY!

  • use 1/4 cup vinegar instead of fabric softener (no it doesn't smell) and u can use a few drops of some essential oil in the vinegar bottle to make it smell nicer if you want. no static. lots of softness..
  • I am in serious love with my dryer balls - the only downside is the clunking noise they make for the first few minutes. They're perfect!

I get the smell from the detergent I use - totally in love with the Gain Apple Mango Tango right now... mmmmm!!!

But you can't use scented detergent on LO's clothes

  • I used drier sheets AND fabric softener on DD's clothes. If there's a fire, having fireproof clothes is going to be the least of your worries. . .?
