I like it. She could go by Gertie or Gerri (I grew up with a Gertie, who later went by Gerri) or Trudy. All of which I think are really cute.

I couldn't do it, but that's because our old dog's name was Gertrude and we called her Gertie for short.

I love old fashioned names, but that's a little too old fashioned. Maybe as a middle name though if it's to honor a family member.

I have tried this name out on MH before b/c of "Gert" from ET. I just remember Drew Barrymore as being so adorable.

When I acted up as a little girl my would always call me Gertrude. It made me so mad, that I behaved......So not my favorite.
