Toddler mirror that attaches to back of passenger seat?

I'm about to switch DS to foward facing because he's getting way too big for rear facing at this point. I'm wanting some kind of mirror that attaches to the back of the passenger head rest so that he can still see himself. He loves to look at himself in the mirror and make faces and laugh. Is there anything out there like this?

Re: Toddler mirror that attaches to back of passenger seat?

  • Why cant you use the same one you had on your backseat when he was rear facing??  Walmart, Kmart, BRU...they all have mirrors that attach around the headrests... :)
  • Loading the player...
  • The only way it attaches is by going up and around the actual headrest with a big hook on the headrest, which means whoever sits in the passenger seat has a big hook banging into the back of their head.
  • Look at some of the other mirrors, mine has a strap that goes around the headrest, but no hook.

And I'm sorry, but I've gotta say it... he's not too big to RF (my DD is quite a bit larger and still RFing). FFing is much more dangerous in a wreck. Have you seen the crash test videos? Read about the toddler who suffered internal decapitation (and lived)? And you know the AAP recommends RFing until at least 2 years?

  • They make them with velcro straps.
  • When DD was rear-facing, I had a crib mirror that I tied to the back of the seat. Actually, we had two. One was by Infantino and the other was Leapfrog. They attached with two ribbons, so it was easy to tie to the back headrest. It doesn't work now b/c she's in the middle seat, so it's too far away. Plus, you might be surprised at how much he likes looking out the windshield. DD points out all the buses, motorcycles, dogs, bridges, etc.

  • Thanks to the ladies that answered my question :o)

And yes, I know all the facts/statistics/whatever about forward facing vs rear facing (obviously, as I've kept him rear facing this long). I also know MY situation, MY carseat and MY car and call tell that MY child is now too long and too uncomfortable to be rear facing. I also know that I'm not a bad mother for knowing he needs to go forward facing soon.
