When to see OB?

Hi ladies. I'm fairly new to the board. DH and I started TTC this month and I can't believe it but I'm pregnant. Big Smile

I didn't think it would happen so fast but very happy that it did. Anywayz...I just found out tonight!!! Now I'm just barely 4 weeks. Shoud I call my OB tomorrow and set up an initial appt? I know it's very early on so I was wondering...When did you guys go see your OB for the 1st time?

Congratulations!

The first appointment will depend on the individual doctor's policies. Most won't see you before 8 weeks, some not even until 12 weeks.

I was required to get a referal and a positive test result from my primary doctor before my OB would talk to me too. So you might want to check with your insurance to make sure you're covered

i called mine and said that i had a positive hpt and they set up an appointment a week later....i ended up being 6wks had an internal ultrasound and heard a heartbeat so you never know...:) congrats

I called as soon as i found out, but they wouldn't see me for 3 weeks (week 7)

I made the appointment immediately, but they wouldn't see me to 7-8wks. I was 7w5d at my first appointment.

Congrats! I called my OB to make an appt the day of my BFP (3w2d). I was scheduled for my first appt at 8 wks. Luckily I didn't have any issues (spotting, cramping, etc) that warranted an earlier appt. It seemed like *forever* to wait, but well worth it. Smile

Congrats! ?I called my dr as soon as I found out (4w3d) just incase it would take weeks to get an appt and they wanted to me to come in the next day to get blood work, confirmation of BFP, genetics, etc going. ?Every place is different, but I would call.

Congrats! My mid-wife told me 8 weeks but it is also my second.

I am due around your time as well! We should start brainsorming on a January name!

My OB doesn't see you until you're 12 weeks. So.. I haven't seen her yet! I did manage to get a free ultrasound though, at the women's pregnancy center in town. So at least I've seen the baby Smile

you should call your doctor as soon as you can and tell them you are pregnant and he/she will tell you if you need to come in for blood work (to confirm) -i had to do that twice b/c i went too early the first time.

then the nurse or doctor will tell you the next step, every practice is different.

I tested positive (faint line) at 3 weeks and 4 days. tested again (very blue line) at 3 weeks and 6 days.. called doctor at 4 weeks and had blood work done at 4 weeks and 1 day. nurse told me it was too early and she needs to take more blood to make sure my levels are going up so at 4 weeks and 5 days i tested again. the next day i had great news and my first prenatal appointment was at 7 weeks and 6 days...

i heard some doctors may not see you until 12 weeks.. so it's all up to the practice

I just found out Monday that I was pregnant, well officially, I knew it before the HPT did. I went to my drs as a walk in Tuesday to take a preg test there. They scheduled me for an appt when Im 10 weeks. Im going crazy! I cant believe I have to wait that long!!!

Called my OB this morning at 8:01am...can you say anxious? Stick out tongue She will see me next week for a pregnancy verification appoint and then officially starting seeing me at 7 weeks. I know they don't do much early on but I just love the idea of seeing my OB doctor making sure all is good.

The doctor probably won't see you until 8-12 weeks, but I called as soon as I got the positive and set up the appt. You can also ask if you need bloodwork for your beta levels.

My doctor sent me for 3 beta tests. I just saw my doctor at 8 weeks.
