when do they put themselves in a sitting position?

DS has been sitting unassisted for almost a month now, but I have to put him in a sitting position. I'm just curious when they normally start putting themself in a sitting position. He's been slow as far as learning to roll- he's only just recently started rolling from his stomach to back and it's very sporatic when he does. I'm wondering if it's going to slow down these other milestones

I think Arlo started around 9-10 months. But he's pretty slow going when it comes to gross motor stuff, he just started crawling Sunday.

For us it all happened at once - crawling, sitting up on her own and pulling up to standing and it was at about 8.5-9 months.

dd started crawling and pushing up to sitting in the same week - at 6.5 months.

i think she was on the earlier end though. don't worry!

DD was early with sitting but she did it around 5 months. My niece is 9 months and still isn't sitting up on her own though.

For us it seems to all have started with the rolling. He went from rolling both ways, to crawling, sitting up, and standing all in about 2 weeks. I think he's on the early side though. I wouldn't worry about it. So much can change from day to day with these LOs.

My son just started rolling last month and is just starting to show signs that he might try crawling. He hasn't started putting himself in the sitting position, but he will put himself down on the floor (front or backwards) in order to roll over to something he wants.

DS is currently working so hard on this. He's been able to sit up unassisted probably for about a month and a half. Right now he's trying some really interesting contortionist stuff to try and get himself upright from lying down, but he's not quite there yet.

as soon as she could crawl and pullup (within a week of e/o it seemed - she could put herself in sitting position. so prob around 8 mo

He learned to do it in the same week he started crawling--at 7 months.

He figured it out today when he was supposed to be napping. Nothing like going around the corner intending to just put his paci in and re-start his soother and seeing him sitting there giggling at me. It was cute the first time, but by the 5th or 6th time it was so cute!
