not sharing names w/fam. and friends...need opinions!

We are having b/g twins - and our girl's name is Hannah Charlotte (that's been set for a long time) DH and I both love the name Hannah and Charlotte is for Charlotte's Web - my all time favorite book.

The problem is the boy name. ?For some reason, we are totally stuck on the name Marshall...nothing else we throw out sounds OK to us. ?We always, always go back to Marshall (m/n would be Dale after my recently deceased grandfather). ?

WDYT of Marshall? ??

I don't like marshall, but if you keep coming back to it, that's probably what you should go with.

Marshall is actually our MN. It's DH's MN as well. We thought about using it for a first name. I like Marshall, but I really don't like Marsh, and I'm so scared that my DS's friends would call him Marsh & that would drive me nuts. If I knew that no one would call him Marsh, it would be our first name.

I think Marshall is a little old fashioned, but it is my grandfather's name and my brother's middle name. I actually love it. But what are the nickname possiblities?

BTW- we aren't sharing our names with our friends and family either. No unnecessary opinions for us, thank you. Smile

We were considering the possibility of nicknames as well, and there really aren't any...but I'm not sure if I think that's a problem or not! ?:) ?

I figure it's still only a 2-syllable name so it's not overly long. ?One of my top names (that DH vetoed) is Benjamin - but I don't like any nicknames for Benjamin so that's why I kind of agreed to take it out of the running...but to me, it's a lot longer of a name than Marshall. ?UGH! ?Boy names are so tricky.

Yeah - I immediately decided we weren't sharing. ?After he's here and we've named him, people will (hopefully) keep their opinions to themselves. ?

?I guess I'm not totally set on Dale, we thought it'd be a great way to honor my grandfather. ?My other grandfather's name was Erich, but DH didn't like the sound of that one - although I think it sounds better.

We just can't figure out why we keep going back to Marshall either - so who knows!! ?

i don't love it, but don't mind it as a full name. But i think people inevitably would shorten it to Marsh- and i really don't like that

I don't really like it, but if you and your DH keep going back to it, it sounds like it's a name you like, so go for it.

I like it! I only know of 2 Marshalls. One my age and one that is about 3! If you keep coming back to it - its your name!

I like it! but I wouldn't like the "marsh" nickname either. I would wanna like, "decide" on a nickname that we were gonna use like "mo" or something so no one ended up using something weird. But I agree if you keep coming back to it then why bother trying to find something else?

I know a Marshall who is 11 now. No one has ever called him Marsh to my knowledge. I don't think it is inevitable.

I love the name Marshall - I know a guy with that name and he is very good-looking, athletic, and successful! I've never heard him called Marsh, always Marshall.

And I think it sounds good with Dean - good choice!!

We love Marshall. Before we were PG, it was our favorite name. I think we're going to use it as a middle name now.

I don't really like Dale, but since it's a family name, I say go for it.

Hannah is too common for my taste, but I love Charlotte, so I like the name overall.
