Jingle Bellies

Are you planning on buying a maternity winter coat?  I am torn, but I just can't see buying a coat for a couple of months!  I have one that is big, so it will fit after, and I think maybe I'll just leave my coat open before that.  I just don't think I want to spend the money on one.  I also have a tendency to go early, not to mention my doctor will probably induce a week to 10 days before because of some previous issues, so it almost seems like a waste of money for me.  It can get pretty cold sometimes, but other other times, it's not so bad.

Re: Jingle Bellies

  • I hadn't thought about it because im thinking about this weekends 80 degree weather instead!  However, I have a coat that I bought on clearance that is about 3 sizes too big, so I think I'll be okay with that.  I like to save money any way I can!

  • I'm going to wait till it starts getting colder here. Who know who huge I'll be by the time the cold weather hits again  =)

  • I have a friend who just had a baby in February that said I could borrow hers.  When she first told me she had to buy a maternity coat I never had considered what pregnant women have to do for a winter jacket.

  • Nope.  But I live in South Texas and our cold days are few and far between.  However, if I lived in Illinois I would be investing in a new coat (but then again I am a whimp when it comes to cold weather!).

  • I'm going to wait until the cold weather comes. ?From what I've heard you need clothes a few sizes too big for the months after you give birth, so I'm hoping to just get away with one coat that will work while I'm still pregnant and then for the few months after I give birth. ?I'm due in early December, so I'm hoping the weather won't be so cold that I can't just wear a coat unbuttoned until I give birth.

  • I don't think I will unless it is a good price.?
  • i bought a baby doll cut coat last winter. perfect for pregnancy and in style.
  • I may. I am waiting to see what maternity clothes come my way from some cousins and friends. If I do it will have to be very inexpensive.
  • Oh wow, I hadn't even thought about it! I will wait and see if when it gets cold how big I am and if I'm generating enough heat of my own. :)

  • I probably will, depending on how cold it gets here in Nov and Dec. I live in Memphis and we typically have pretty cold winters. But also because I have to dress very professional where I work, so I wouldn't feel comfortable strolling in with a coat that didn't fit well.
  • As of right now I'm not planning on it...  My work coat is long but doesn't button much below my bb's anyway so maybe it'll just expand around the belly.  If it comes down to it, I'm not above wearing my oversize ski jacket to work either...

  • Hmm, I hadn't thought about it.  I usually get cold really easily, so I'll probably buy an inexpensive one or maybe find one I like that can be taken in later.
  • It's a little premature for me to think about it, being only 5 weeks, but I'm anticipating that by December it's going to be far too cold to go coatless.  I'll probably get one, but hopefully I'll be able to find one that's not too expensive!

  • Good thinking! Now would be the time to invest in one if any. They are all on clearance. I like the baby doll coats! They are in style and fit for pregnancy and not.
  • I'm not really planning on it, coats are just so expensive and I doubt I'll be hanging out outside that much when I'm 9 months pregnant.  I have a coat or two that are a little big that I could maybe wear open and then my sister used to be heavier so I think she has some of her old coats from when she was overweight that I could maybe borrow.  I couldn't justify buying a maternity coat that I'd probably only wear for a few weeks.  Now if I was due in March, that would be another story.

  • I am not. I might think about getting a warm puffy vest and a few nice sweaters. My friend did just that and was fine. Especially since I am due early december, it will just have started getting cold and a few weeks of vest'ing it up will be fine for me. I might not leave the house too much anyways.
  • Luckily I live in South Georgia, so I rarely have to wear a coat anyway. But if I lived up north, I'd probably wait and see how things are going as it gets colder. If you can find one on clearance, I say go for it.
  • This is my first pregnancy and don't know what to expect. I guess I'll have to wait and see how big I get. But I will definitely need a winter coat because we get tons of snow!
  • I don't think it will be cold enough to warrant one.
