? about double strollers - 2 under 2 to be!

Hello ladies!! I don't post on here much but I have a question for you!

My two boys will be approximately 17 months apart.  I used the Chicco travel system all the time with my first but he quickly grew out of both his infant seat and the stroller, his shoulders are wide. DS is now approx 31 inches and 25+ lbs at 15 months.  I'm tall and dad is a big guy so I'm assuming this next little boy will also be on the larger side as well!  I need a double stroller and I really would like a side by side, the tandems are way too long for my liking.

What are your opinions of the Bumbleride Indie Twin? This made my list because its compatible with the Chicco infant seat.  However... how long will I really use the infant seat with the double?  My son was a winter baby... I'm thinking maybe a summer baby would rather just lay flat in the stroller as it may be cooler.  If that's the case, I'd like to forgo the Bumbleride and was looking at the Baby Jogger City Mini.  My only issue with this is, is it large enough?  I really wanted something with "tires" as opposed to plastic wheels.

Sorry this is so long but I'm really up in the air, BRU has a 20% off coupon that they will let me use for these strollers but I only have until the 30th to make up my mind!! Thanks so much for all your help!!

  • I was sold on the baby jogger until I put Rylee it in... she was SO squished and HATED it.. I was really bummed..

Our stroller quest has ended with me giving in and deciding on the Kolcraft Contours Options Tandem... as much as I DO NOT WANT A TANDEM... Rylee loved it, and the baby can sit in the back by the handle in his carseat... soo.... I lost this battle...

    Rylee - 3.28.08
    Malakai - 8.3.09
    Ezra - 12.1.11 ASD

  • We are going with the Baby Jogger City Mini Double. I like that it can lay flat but also has a carseat adapter.

There was a lengthy post on this yesterday you should check out that had some great ideas- it's probably just back on page 2.

thanks!! I have been trying to keep an eye out, I must have missed it!

  • I went with the McClaren Techno Twin side by side.  It has a full recline for the baby, so you don't need the carseat at all - which I suppose can be a benefit or not depending on how you look at it.  For me it was good because my carseat was not compatible with any double strollers and I didn't want to replace it. It folds very compact and is light weight (comparably) and rides like a dream.
  • I recomeend this to everyone.  We got this last summer and I LOVE it!

Obviously it is not for trips to stores, but for walks around town it is great.  My girls are 26 mo apart.  DD1 doesn't like strollers much (she is now 3.5), but she will sit good for the chance to play at the park when I am done walking.

  • I just recently bought a (single) Baby Jogger Elite but my research brought me to either the Elite or the BOB Rev AW (aw's have the 3 12" tires as opposed to the one 16" wheel infront). The BOB was wider but shorter and the Elite was a bit narrower and taller. Maybe the BOB would suit your baby better? They have a side-by-side (is that a tandem?) called the Duallie.

I also recommened Baby 411's stroller forum.............that is ALL they discuss and it really helped expose more options for me so I could make an informed decision!!! Just google "baby 411 stroller" or something like that and it should pop up!!

No prob! I listed my requirements and desires and they provided names of stroller I hadn't ever heard of at that point. Then I did a lot of youtube video searches to see them sort of in "person" first. Of course then I found them IRL and plopped the babe in them and voila there was my decision. That and a 20% off coupon lol. Oh, go to the Bargains forum, too, and see if there are any sales on the stroller you want....
