3rd Trimester

When does it start? (stupid question I know)

All you ladies with your internal reports at like 36ish weeks are freaking me out!  When do you start dilating and effacing?  I would think starting to dilate at 36 weeks is early....but clearly not after reading things here!  So when is it expected that you start the stretching/dilating process?

  • Apparently not even at 38w for me :-P

  • Everybody is different. Also, it doesn't mean much. You can be dilated for weeks and have no progress, or go from nothing to full labor in a week.

    ?

Yeah the hospital messed up and "forgot" to schedule her. The fact that the hospital is not in flames and pieces speaks wonders as to Bran's ability to forgive lol! ?

  • I was at 36 weeks, but I'm not sure what's considered "normal."

  • Did you get that shirt from Motherhood? I really wanted it in purple stripes but they didnt have my size :( I ended up getting like 3 colors in the solid ones. It's cute. Oh and I think I started dilating at 36 weeks. Don't worry if your not, cause it doesn't mean the baby is coming any faster or slower.

It depends on alot of things...I have been at 1cm for the past couple of weeks......Some women don't dialate or efface until active labor...don't stress it!  Wink

  • Everyone is different..I have had two students in the last year that were dilated at 4 (before due date) and 6 (1 week past due date) and not in labor....at all.
  • I swear I did not read this before posting above....
  • At 35w, half cm dialated, still thick.
