tell me about your experience, please. ?I've been having a lot of back and neck pain lately and wonder if a chiro could help. ?Something just feels out of whack in my mid and upper back. ?
But I'm terrified that it will hurt; the idea of someone snapping and cracking things on my spine and neck just freaks me the eff out. ?
Did it help you? Did it hurt? ??
Re: if you've been to a chiropractor...
I have a major girl-crush on my chiropractor. She's fantastic. I started going because I had foot pain last summer from running. Turns out, my hips, shoulders, and just about everything between, was all out of whack, and she had me on track going 2-3 times per week after 3 weeks.
I now go once a month, and do distance running training with little to no pain outside of the normal aches and pains.
Love her. I was SOOOO freaked out at first, too, by the way, but it didn't hurt, and the results were fantastic.
i went for a while before getting pg with griffin - for bad lower back pain.
never hurt- felt good - i also worked with the PT at the office doing certain exercises that helped build strength (that i also had to do at home) - and it worked great- i didn't need to go for very long.
Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine, used to be more known as Doctor of Osteopathy. MDs and DOs are equal as doctors in practicing. DOs also receive training in manipulation and some choose to use it in practice and others don't. I'm in medical school in a DO program and we have some great doctors who focus solely on manipulation and are great at what they do. I have no problem with chiropractors I just haven't gone to one so I have no experience to share.
I was very skeptical for a LONG time due to the type of work I do. Lets just say I've seen a lot of chiro quacks out there who just want to treat & treat & make a bunch of $$. That being said, I have found that if you find a *trusted* chiropractor- one that you have personal references for & can be assured that they are not an overtreater, then I believe it can be a great experience. For my personal experience, I had an acute lumbar strain (meaning, when it happened it brought me to the ground) and I was lucky enough to know a trusted chiro. I got in that day & after one adjustment felt 70% better. Had 2 more adjustments & was fine again. I actually went a couple of times during my second pg as I had horrible sacroiliac pain- again, just a couple adjustments & I felt so much better. Adjustments should not & do not hurt if they are done correctly.
A chirpractor is my life saver.
When I was 18 I "broke" my back. I jammed my hip bone up and my tailbone down. I went to a chiropractor for it. LOVED it.
then when I was around 22/23 I was vaccuming and threw out my back. I actualy herniated a few discs I found out later. and I went to a chiropractor. I had numb spots in my legs and feet, and after a few visits I could actually stand up straight again and was good.
