What time was your scheduled C-section/ when did you have to fast?

I'm wondering since I have to be at the hospital at 1pm but the procedure won't start until 3pm yet I have to fast from 12am that morning (no liquids...no water...no nothin')!

I am going to be starving! lol

When did you have to fast from when you had your scheduled C-section?

I might have to sleep up until when ready to leave so I don't think about food..... :laughs:

Nutmeg, cilantro, sage, mint, thyme... these are a few of my favorite things! Visit The Nest!Visit The Nest! We have four children; one left us too soon.

  • I am in the same boat. I am going to the hospital at 12 for a 2:00 surgery. I also said I might have to sleep in so that I won't want to eat or drink . Crazy isn't it. No Food or water for a pregnant lady. I keep telling my H that I am going to be cranky.

  • I had to fast from midnight on but my c/s was scheduled for 8am.  We went to the hospital at 6am.  I cheated and had little sips of water.  It's the same as ice chips right?  Anyway I don't understand the no food or drink.  They said they didn't want me to throw up anything but then they made me drink a disgusting salty grape drink.  I threw up the grape stuff the entire c/s and could have choked.  Weird.

  • no food after midnight the night before.  1st was at 10am, 2nd was at 8am.
  • Mine was scheduled for noon and they said I had to fast from 2 am.

I got up right before 2 am and ate a big bowl of oatmeal with peanut butter stirred in (my go-to energy/stick to your ribs meal) and a couple of big glasses of water.

The procedure was delayed and I didn't end up having DD until 1:16 pm.

This was a Thursday. . . I wasn't allowed to eat anything until "all systems were go" and that was late Friday night.

  • Mine was at 11:45 and I had to fast from midnight the night before. DD was born at 12:27.

I went in early in hopes that they could take me sooner, but it just meant that I sat around attached to a monitor in triage. Boo.

Some people may remember that I ate a HUGE dinner of steak, baked potato and green beans with dessert that night, and got up to eat a bowl of oatmeal at 11pm. LOL
