Cambridge Birth Center

Has anyone birthed here? Can you tell me what your experiences were? I have heard great things about them, but also that they have a high transfer rate to the hospital. Thanks.

    I have not given birth there, but have heard mostly negative experiences lately.  I would usually recommend the North Shore Birth Center, but since the hospital board implemented some changes to their policies, they are losing their birth center accreditation and I'm not sure how satisfying the birth experience will be there with the changes.

     Other options include:

     - southern NH birth centers (there are quite a few of them)

    - Massachusetts homebirth midwives

    - Midwives at Mt. Auburn Hospital

    - Midwives at Newton-Wellesley Hospital

    - Louise Bastarche of Wareham Nurse Midwives

    I didn't give give birth at the Birth Center, but I did my prenatal care there and delivered with a midwife at the hospital (I chose to deliver at the hospital).  I had a great experience, but my midwife left the practice shortly after I delivered.  They have "Meet the Midwives" sessions once a month (I think).  You could call and find out when they're having one.

    I am interested in cambridge birth center and also heard that they have high transfer rate. Although I heard it's because of legal issues... not just because they want to.

    I have heard mostly positive things... but I want to find informtion from those who have given birth there recently.
