What do you do with that one bag of garbage?
Ok, I know this may sound like a silly question but let me explain. DH and I talked about this last night. We think we can easily go back down to just one bag of garbage a month. Most everything we have that is 'garbage' can be recycled. So easy enough we get a larger recycle bin and viola we recycle better.
However, what do we do with that garbage that isn't full enough to throw away each week? We can't keep garbage in our pantry that long and if we put it outside or in the garage animals/bugs will get to it. If we throw away half a bag of garbage a week that seems wasteful too. Mostly money-wise because we have to buy garbage stickers. So we'll be throwing away a garbage sticker each week on barely anything. I've also looked up in our area and it doesn't appear that we have a local dump site we could just take it to either.

What are you putting it in outside? Just the bag or is it in a sealed container? If just the bag, try a sealed container. That might keep the creepy crawlies out.
What about talking to a nieghbor and seeing if you can give them a few bucks to supplement what they pay for the stickers to throw your weekly mini-bag in? (I don't really know what stickers are or what the rules are, so I am just guessing.)
More Green For Less Green
We usually put our garbage in a sealed bin in the garage until garbage day. We thought about talking to a neighbor, but I don't know that we're friendly enough with any of them to ask such an odd question. I work at someone's home, so I don't feel right bringing garbage there. DH works all over the Chicagoland area. Although perhaps that might be a good option for him to toss it in the garbage somewhere along his day.
We have to buy stickers here to put on your garbage can each week. That's how you pay for garbage removal I guess. It was new to me when I moved out here too.
I don't know really. It's a city thing, so I guess our carrier. We're in the far west suburbs and you buy the stickers at the grocery store. They ask for what city when you buy them, so I assume there are multiple in the area they use the same method.
