3rd Trimester

Speaking of annoying weight comments..

DH has taken it upon himself to volunteer my weight to family and friends, usually without them asking. And not just how many pounds I've gained, but my actual weight ( for some reason that bothers me more!).  Wtf huh? He doesn't say it mean or to make me feel fat, but that's pretty much all it does. He can't seem to grasp that it's rude.

Re: Speaking of annoying weight comments..

  • thats the time when you have to hold his face and tell him to stop doing that. Sometimes husbands need to be talked to like preschoolers! lol
  • Loading the player...
  • Not cool...I would strangle DH if he did that to me!!
  • Why would he do that? DH has no clue how much I weigh and I can't imagine why he would want to share that with people if he did.
  • Yes on the face holding.  And you might need to talk with your teeth clenched together.
  • My DH just says, "She's finally gotten over 100lbs."

Have you told him that you don't like him volunteering your weight?

  • I don't see how that would be a good idea in ANYONE'S eyes. . .?
  • Definitely tell him you need him to stop that and that it is NOT cool!

My husband does not know my pre-pregnancy weight or my current weight OR how much I've gained.  He knows how much I weighed at our wedding, and that's it!

  • I have told him several times to cut it out, but he's not getting it. I guess he thinks bigger is better or something because his defense is that he's just trying to tell them how good the baby and I are doing.
  • Hahahaha! I think DH has been tempted to do the same. It's like bragging or something - showing of his fertile woman ;)

Hehe, but it also reminds me of a recent conversation I had where the husband was telling a group of us about trying to find the correct brest shield size for his wife's breasts. She had to interupt him and say "umm... honey, that's not really something we need to share with other people." ;)

  • I'd kill H. Murder him in his sleep.
  • This is going to sound harsh but it'll only take one time...I promise.

Next weight gain comment he makes in your presence...poke him in the taint with one of your mad strong fingernails.

  • Thankfully the only mention of my weight from DH is "You're the skinniest pregnant woman I have ever seen." Thanks, but it doesn't change that I feel huge! And my actual weight as opposed to my weight gained IS more painful to hear... I don't mind hearing how much I've gained because I'm obviously pregnant and I'm supposed to be gaining weight.. but for some reason that big number is just frightening!

  • Next time he does that, let everyone what he's packing.

I'm sure that'll make him think twice in the future haha

Yeah! You hit it right on the head lol.. I don't know any other way to explain that he says it in a really nice, complimentary, very annoying way! And the breast shield story is too funny!

Yep, I hear you! DH is exactly the same, but fortunately he keeps his mouth shut in public. Sometimes he has to release at home though and nearly bounces as he talks about how I'm getting so big and "makin' a healthy baby" and how my breasts are huge and "we're going to have such a fat, healthy baby." LOL. But now I'm so thankful that it's just between us! (well.. and I think he tells his family when I'm not listening ;)

If it makes you feel better, remember that everyone he says it to (1) knows pg women gain weight and sees that you're healthy, and (2) is thinking "whoa, man. You really should not have said that!"

I would do this.  I've noticed that my husband has gained a few pounds since I got pregnant, but I wouldn't say anything unless he told everyone about my weight.  Then it's fair game.

I'm sure you're right, but it's still mortifying lol!

It could always be worse I'm sure. At least they're proud of our rounder bodies haha...
