My DH and other pregnant friends tell me I can't/shouldn't chew gum. What can I have when I want to freshen my mouth but can't brush? Are mints ok? Is any gum ok?
Are you sure she said you shouldn't chew gum? Maybe she meant you shouldn't swallow gum when you are pregnant because it might go straight to the baby and it would get into his/her hair and gum +hair isn't good combination...I would double check
Of course you can chew gum, it just has to be the watermelon flavor. That's the only kind that won't hurt the baby's ability to play sports in high school. Sheesh.

You can chew gum, you just can't chew gum and walk at the same time. Your balance is already off so...

no, they are right. if you chew gum, it might pull a filling in a cavity out. if that comes out, then the baby falls out through the cavity hole.
you CAN chew gum if you are cavity free.

It is very important because being PG will cause your breath to smell like catshiit.
So, since gum is obviously on the same outs list as caffeine, haircolor, cold cuts, and drinking bleach, you will have to start carrying a bottle of water, toothpaste, and toothbrush around EVERYWHERE.
Make sure it's not Close-up, though, b/c all that spicy toothpaste might make your baby come out with red hair.
Um, yeah. The Bump be too crazy for pics of my kid.

This
this made me laugh so hard-- I swallowed my gum- Hope it will be ok!
(Sigh)
i'm chewing gum as we speak
i think what they meant is that your gums and teeth may be much more sensative during the pregnancy, but you can still chew gum
i think i just peed in my pants!
Yep- Better than chewing gum- Or eating Mayo-
Have a drink too while you're at it!
LOL!
I am now officially dead. Dead and buried.
Wow. I was basically concerned about the artificial sweetners in the gum. I guess because of your reactions, it's fine. Thanks for your help.
Think about the actual amount of artificial sweetener that you would have to ingest to have any affect on your baby....
I drank Diet Coke practically every day I was PG and nothing happened. Listen to your doctor and not these other people
Make a pregnancy ticker
this ^^
I don?t think there is enough artificial sweetener in gum to be worried. unless you chew several packs a day.
