1st Trimester

Scared!!

I have been having on and off very dull cramping in my left side (around where my ovary is) for about a week.  It feels similar to ovulation cramping.  Sometimes I can feel it in my lower back.  I'm almost 5 weeks and am scared of ectopic.  I only have my left ovary (which has been operated on twice) and tube.  I haven't had any serious pain or any bleeding.  I am (obviously) not having any pain on my right side because there is nothing there.

Have any of the one ovaried ladies experienced anything like this??? Wjat was the result??  Anyone who has ever had an ectopic experience this??  Am I overanalyzing??

Re: Scared!!

  • ive had the exact same symptoms. its just your cervix stretching to make room for the baby. its uncomfortable but actually a good sign. if youre not bleeding or have a fever i wouldnt worry. the best thing to do is relax. best of luck!

  • had the same thing... you're fine.

    congrats!

  • I had the same thing, and everything turned out fine for me. My doc said if it was ectopic the pain would be severe.

  • I have been cramping too.  It started out in my ovaries and now it is all around my lower abdomen.  I went to the ob last night and she said as long as it isn't severe it is ok.  However, I would call your dr and see what they say.  I don't know too much about ectopic pregnancy but my mom had one and was in extreme pain.  She also had really bad shoulder pain.
  • This is very common. It could just be that is the side where the egg was released, and it is where the corpus luteum is, creating the progesterone to sustain the pregnancy. My left side was sore for 2-3 wks, and my early u/s showed that was what was happening. From what I've read on ectopic, the pain gets increasingly more intense.

  • You guys are the best!  Thanks for putting my fears to rest...bring it on baby!
  • Had the same thing- it was a bladder infection. Call your doctor to be sure.
