NBR: curly hair products

Having so many women in one spot, I figured I would pick your brains....

?

Since getting pregnant DH and I have been on a pretty strict budget, as I'm sure most of you can relate. ?My sacrifice for the "cause" was to give up my Aveda hair products. ?It's what I've always used and works great for my hair. ?Unfortunately, not the cheapest stuff out there. ?So I'm wondering if you guys have any advice on some more inexpensive products that work well for naturally curly hair.

Shampoo/conditioners/products

So far I have tried pantene products, I feel kind of meh about them so far, so thought I would throw the question out there.

I have naturally curly hair, too. My first recommendation would be to not shampoo your hair everyday, just do it a couple times a week, but make sure you condition your hair every day. I prefer Dove products, but mix it up with cheapo Suave since that's what DH uses. To style, I just use Suave mousse to define my curls and either air dry or use a diffuser. Done!

I'm no help, I use scrupples. I used to use herbal essences gel and it was super thick, when I bought another bottle they changed it and now it is super runny. My husband is currently using it as his gel. I hate to say it is almost worth it to spend the money instead of buying product after product. Sometimes I really hate having curly hair, it just has a mind of its own anyway!

I too have natural curly hair, and I think the Aussie shampoo,cond, and gels work pretty good. And they smell good too.

I have naturally curly hair, I used to use Biolage, but it's pricey so I now use Garnier Fructis, they have a line of shampoo/conditioner called Hydra Curls, they have great styling products as well.

Yeah, I really don't like Pantene styling products for curly hair.

I have tried TONS of products for curly hair.

I really like Garnier Fructis (any conditioner - I use the Length & Strength). It doesn't necessarily have to be just for curls to work well.

Ditto not shampooing everyday - it dries your hair. Try every other day. As far as shampoos, I don't think they're as important as conditioner. Meaning, I will pick up a generic Suave or something shampoo and a better conditioner.

My favorite gel is from Aussie. It's called Syndey Smooth - Tizz no Frizz. I swear by the stuff. Just enough control to keep your curls / prevent frizz but doesn't leave you with the wet / crunchy look.

Nothing has worked as well for me as Infusium 23. The shampoo, conditioner, and leave in conditioner are all wonderful

When I wear my hair curly, which is rare, I use Curls Rock and a diffuser. It's one of the few products that isn't crunchy or smelly.

Aussie makes hair products for curly hair. I LOVVVE it. Smells awesome too!

I'm a hair dresser and I have curly hair too. My advice is to go cheap on Shampoo and Conditioner (you wash most of it out) Just make sure it's for Curly hair types. But spend some $$ on styling products. Curly hair almost always has to have a good quality style product to work right. Biolage is now sold at Target and some drug stores. They are on the cheaper end of the professional lines and I've always been happy with they're stuff. Good luck!
