    I voted for Sienna, and Nichole is what immediately came to my mind for a mn, but I really love Genevieve Claire as well!

    Only Genevieve is a real name! Sienna is a colour. Makayla is just made up rubbish. Sorry but it is.

    Genevieve goes with most things other than 3 syllable mn. French names even more.

     I like Genevieve Anne, Genevieve Suzanne, Genevieve Celine, Genevieve Justine, Genevieve Charlotte, Genevieve Christine.

    Thanks for the replies so far.  Siena is a village in Italy...but I understand that you don't like it.  We were thinking of Sienna because of my Italian heritage.  We preferred the 2 n spelling since that spelling is more common for the name. Makayla is actually from the name Micheal but we chose not to do the traditional spelling because everyone I was showing the name was saying Micheal -a?  What is that...?   Genevieve my husband and I both like but we are worried everyone will screw up the spelling since the name is long.  Anyway to each their own...and I appreciate all of the feedback and true honest opinions.  Big Smile

    I voted for Sienna, I like it. I really like the name Michaela, but I don't really like the modern spelling that you have there. Genevieve is ok, but nms. It sounds dorky to me.

    Genevieve is our middle name for our girl. It was Husband's grandmother's name. Good stuff.

    I like Makayla a lot and I prefer this spelling too. I have a great aunt named Genevieve and a very close friend named Genevieve. Most people call my aunt and friend Gen. If you don't like Gen, I wouldn't go with Genevieve. It's not a name I particularly like, but there isn't anything wrong with it I guess. I don't like Sienna. It's a car.

    I voted for Genevieve.  I love that name.  It was one of my favorites but DH shot it down.

    As for middle names- I'm a fan of middle names with meaning.  Any family members you'd like to honor?  Anything on the short side goes great with Genevieve.

    A friend of mine has a Genevieve Alexis.  I love the spelling with a "G" too.

    What about Sienna Claire? 

    Sienna is my favorite of the three (it's on our short list too!) and Genevieve is a close second.  I love the nn's for Genevieve (Genna, Eve, Evie, Neve, etc..).  I'm not a fan of Makayla.

    Thanks for all of the responses so far.  In my family we don't really have a tradition of using family names as middle names but I have considered it.  Most of them are NMS and were very trendy for the era but I'll share them to see what you think. 

    My grandmother's name is Marta...she changed to

    Martha after moving to the US but I think Marta is pretty.  Mom is Linda Mae, aunt is Susan Ann and my middle name is Lynne.  That's all the ladies on my Mom's side.  Dad's side I haven't seen since I was a baby so their names wouldn't mean anything to me.

    On DH's side...very small family.  His Mom is Nancy Carol, his mother's mother was Mildred and his father's mother who past away when he was two was Catherine.

    Do you think any of those names would go well with the first names we chose?

    I just think the name Genevieve sounds so pretty.

    The others are NMS.

    Since both your grandmother and his grandmother start with the letter "M", why not use an "M" middle name?

    I noticed you mentioned Makayla Noelle as a possibility.  I have a niece with the same name, except her first name is spelled Mikaela.  I love it!

    Genevieve 100%.  I LOVE this name (DH nixed it - boo!).
