If that is the style that you are going for then sticking to the classics is best. ex Elizabeth, Catherine, etc.

Camrynn, Alixx, Jaydin, Reighllynne...those are another story.
What she said. I think any classic or traditional name gives a sense of stability that can be translated to intellect. The more "creative" you try to be with X's and Y's and double letters, the more there is an impression of illiteracy.
That said, I don't think there's anything wrong with thinking outside the box. Juliette may seem romantic, but it also evokes the impression that your parents could read, which is always a good thing.
Allison doesn't really fit with those names? And Juliette sounds very romantic (obviously) :-)
yeah, definitely not allison. juliette is ok but not particularly intelligent sounding to me. i would say caroline, constance, and margaret are "intelligent" girl names.

I know a very dumb Sophia and a very dumb Allison. So I don't see those as "smart" names, but I'm sure there's a Juliette and a Charlotte out there who lack some smarts, too, I just don't know them! But in general, Allisons aren't really girls I'd label "smart". Allison seems more "popular" to me. Juliette is a french name, so there will be some associations with that name, which could be a good thing if you're trying to raise a CEO.
I think classic names sound intelligent. Elizabthen, Katherine, Eleanor, Charlotte, Amelia, etc.
I didn't know I could be offended by the Baby Names board, but there ya go. For what it's worth, (being an Allison myself I notice these things) all the Allison's I've ever met fall into the extremely intelligent category. Nerds in school, successful women now. I fully realize I'm biased here, but having a PhD and looking at professor positions I do not consider myself unintelligent. And perhaps it's just that I choose to associate with intelligent women, but I've actually never known a ditzy Allison. Okay, rant over.

Ditto. I've seen people on this board say that my name (Ashley) sounds unintelligent, trashy, low class, etc. It's kind of funny (especially since I graduated in the top 3% in my class and have a long record of other academic achievements). On the other hand, it's pretty fascinating to observe how opinionated people are about certain names and the types of associations they have with them. FWIW, most of the Allisons I know are smart and successful.

I know I shouldn't take it personally. It's a good reminder that kids make the name work for them, the name has little to do with how they turn out.
Browsing through the winter edition of the UPenn alumni magazine, I noticed there were FIVE babies named Lila/Lyla (including my own) born this year... so I think that should go on the list.
Otherwise, I agree that classic names sound more intelligent than more modern, "trendy" names.
Re: Intelligent names..
Agreed.
I think any of those could sound intelligent.
Camrynn, Alixx, Jaydin, Reighllynne...those are another story.
This had me worried for a second until I saw the "another story" part and realized you weren't suggesting these names.
I could have looked at the siggy to know better, but still. Quick heart attack!

LOL. I have issues w/ very few names. I actually love all ethnic names but I do not like names like these!
you think all names sound intelligent?

ITA, Allison doesn't sound intelligent. It's a very pretty name but it's kind of a cheerleader name.

Great answer.
Intelligent people write their name into history.
