Ford prejudice

So I have a Ford. It does not have a car loan (but Lord knows something new breaks on it all the time.) I have a job (barely.) But the commercial just said if I had a Ford and I lost my job they would pay the payments. Well, I think it's prejudice because I own my car and I have a job. I want that money.

How come we can't just go somewhere and say, "Hey, I'd like some money free and clear. I'm not going to pay it back or anything and I don't want any repurcussions because of that. Thanks."

    Of course I feel this way about the mortgage reform where people who are behind on their payments get to renegotiate their loans. WTF? Why can't I renegotiate my loan? Interest rates are dirt cheap now, but the cost of refinancing is a PITA.

    Isn't this some promotion all the car companies are running because people aren't buying cars anymore?

    I agree - I hate all the handouts. The tax credit for first time homebuyers is the one that really chaps my ass. Where was that tax credit when we bought two years ago at the peak of the market? Why do people need even that incentive to buy homes right now, when there are lots of bargins to be had? Wasn't people not being able to save up for a down payment on their own one of the things that caused this whole mess in the first place? Grrrr...

    wondering what the fine print on that deal is.   Like we'll make the payments for x amount of months (and tack it all back on the end of your loan).

    I also have a BIG problem with all the 'handouts' lately. I work in the mortgage industry and it is so aggrivating to see these people come in to renegotiate their mortgage becuase they are living beyond their means. You have to be in dire straights to use this new program that the gov't has set up. So, because DH and I live prudently and well within our means, we get NOTHING...it is totally redic if you ask me.Angry
