Baby Names

Judd?

DH and I are just in the beginning stages of TTC, but throw names around a lot since he is very traditional, and though I like traditional, I want something a little different as well.  There is a designer Judd Waddell, but there's a Judd in the musical Oklahoma which is when I first heard it and thought it was kind  of cool...any other opinions?

Re: Judd?

  • I wouldn't use it myself but I like it. It sounds very southern and gentlemanly.

  • I don't like it
  • It's growing on me the more I think about it, but I can definitely see that it's not a name everyone will love!  Thanks for all the opinions, ladies!  I may be posting more and more as we do get further into babyland!

I thought "Pore Jud is Daid," too.  Jud is not a character I'd want to name my kid after...  (I played Ado Annie Smile)
  • I like it, but the 1st person that comes to mind with that name is the actor Judd Nelson (from the breakfast club..and I liked him and the movie).
  • Hmmm. Don't like it. Judd, mud, crud, bud. Not pleasant to say or hear, in my opinion. You could pull it off as a middle name, I suppose.  But I just can't imagine looking into a fresh new baby's eyes, and thinking Judd. I agree with the poster that suggested Jude, though. I like that.

  • I used to not like it at all... but now we know a little boy who is a Jason Jr. and they call him Judd. He is the cutest thing and it has really grown on me. Even when he's not around, hearing them talk about "Judd" just sounds cute!
