What is Miracle Whip?

And what is tastefully simple?  I am so disconnected.

apparently miracle whip is salad dressing. Although I can't imagine anyone using it as salad dressing plain.

To me, I can't tell the difference between that and mayo, but some people swear that miracle whip and its equivalents are much better.

My MIL actually uses mayo as salad dressing.  Grosses me out.

  • MW is mayonnaise and tastefully simple is a door to door kinda company that sells spices and food ingredients for high end products. I am not sure if they sell kitchen items or not. Its been a long time since I have seen a catalog. They are kinda like tupperware or pampered chef.
  • MW has a weird sweet taste to it....mayo and MW gross me out though.  Ick!

  • Micacle Whip is the best. I hate mayo- no matter how cold it is, it always tastes hot. Miracle whip is used more for potato salads, macaroni salads, etc (to validate why it's used as a salad dressing- not something you would put on lettuce).  Mayo is best for sandwiches. I have always used miracle whip.

Tastefully simple is spices and mixes you can buy and make your own dips, breads, etc. People have parties and taste or see all the stuff. (just as you would tupperware, pampered chef, candles, etc). it's good stuff. i think you go to tastefullysimple.com and can see everything they have.

  • Miracle whip is sweet where mayo is not.

i'm pretty sure the 'salad dressing' refers to salads like macaroni and potato - which are usually mayo based.

MW is sweeter that mayo and i think has a lighter base of egg whites instead of the whole egg (like mayo).?

  • What's the slogan?  Nothing beats the tangy zip of Miracle Whip...

That being said, I'm a mayo fan

  • it's a nasty sweet alternative to mayoIck!

Ditto, and ditto the barf face too. Yuck. MW is tangy but not in a good way. It is supposed to be like mayo but mayo is awesome and MW tastes like it has about a pound of sugar in it. Blech.

    ITA!?

  • Haha I grew up with miracle whip, which is kinda weird I guess in CA - but my mom was from MI, so she grew up with it. I don't think I'd even really had real mayo until my late teens (and didn't like it at the time). I like both now - mayo more for sandos, but miracle whip is thee best for tuna and tuna melts. Mmm...
