Naming the Baby After the Aunt????

The FOB (Father of the Baby) wants to name the baby after his sister, whom happens to 3 yrs old. I'm not thrilled @ this idea. What do you think? O her name is Jordan.

    I really like the name Jordan but I'm not big on naming the first name after a family member, could you maybe use Jordan as the middle name.

    That's what I'm saying! They're basically going to grow up together and he wants them to have the same name? He didnt give a reason. He just threw it out there.

    I told him I didnt know about that. I thought it was funny too. I actually laughed when he suggested it until I realized he was serious. I asked why, he said he just likes the name. I think it's b/c I suggested we name the baby after his brother ( who died awhile back) if the baby is a boy.His name was Joshua. But he said his mother can't hear that name w/o crying. So Joshua is out of the question.

    I love the name but in this case, bad idea.

    It seems like it would be confusing to have two children who will be close having the same name. Maybe there is another family member of his you could name the baby after? Like his mother or grandmother maybe?

    I would try to get out of that one.  Maaaaaaybe for the middle name.  I think 3 is a little early to have "earned" a namesake (for lack of a better term).  I think each kid should get their own first name and then middles should be family names.

    I dont think this is about him wanting the baby to be named after someone in his family. I think he was just throwing something out there.
