I have searched far & wide for any answer on this ? but haven't come up w/ anything. I had a high LH level on my BW a few weeks back, but no sign or O or a surge. My doc said it could be PCOS, which wouldn't surprise me given my irregular history before BCP & my 2 recent annov cycles after BCP. Does any know if my LH could be wacky coming off BCP just because I'm still regulating? I stopped BCP in Sept 08.
Re: LH levels after BCP
I think you've said it before but I can't remember. Your doctor isn't sure if you have PCOS or not but they're putting you on clomid?
We haven't confirmed PCOS w/ ultrasound but my doc didn't want to stick me w/ the extra costs of all the testing. He will do more testing for me if I choose, but he didn't seem concerned that we have to know if I have PCOS. The reason he's putting me on clomid is because I'm not ovulating on my own, so he's going to get me ovulating w/ clomid, hopefully.
I don't know that confirming PCOS is critical or not. I'm sure some of the ladies here would say I need to find a new doc but it's really partly my choice.
My doc said the same thing...lets just "try it". I wasted 3 months because of that trying before I switched to a doctor that listend to me. Confirming PCOS would be critical because its possible you need to be on other medications to deal with the PCOS stuff that could be causing you to not ovulate.
I had pretty weird insurance too, I was TERRIFIED of having to pay a ton of $$ because my issues, but it wasn't bad, I just made to sure to have them code things properly for my u/s and bloodwork to look for PCOS stuff.
I hope it works for you, but I would be cautious about taking clomid for more than a couple cycles before looking at why you're not Oing.
(I'm not trying to sound snarky or know it all...just giving my input.) GL!!!
