at a loss for new food

So I feel like I'm already boring Nora with lack of food "choices."  I read that there's really not a point to buy organic if it's coming from another country bc they don't have as strict of guidelines and we don't really know if it's organic or not.  I can hardly find any food grown in the USA that's organic that I can make for Nora... I'm still pureeing.  What do you do?  Just buy organic from out of the country?

Re: at a loss for new food

  • I was really into ONLY organic at first, but I've slacked up a lot on that. If I can find it organic, then I will do that first. If not, I just buy what I can find.

If you are set on only organic & are having a hard time finding real food to puree, then you could always buy organic jarred baby food. We bought some Earth's Best Organic jars at BRU recently on sale b/c I needed something for him to eat while we're out & about.

    Good luck!?

  • have you tried your local farmers market?   i would think that would be a great place to find local organic produce!

  • Hmmm, for puree, I would just buy organic jarred if you can't find the fruit itself.  Liam doesn't eat any puree anymore, so we just buy organic.  I haven't really noticed whether it's from the USA or not, although that does make sense about them not having as strict guidelines.  I would think it's still better than nothing though, and I'm pretty sure most of the produce we get from Earth Fare is local, except for things like mangoes.

  • I like the Earth Best brand! They seem to have good variety. Gerber also makes a organic brand. I have found that purees are best priced at Target than anywhere else.

I know what you mean about boring....I am finding it hard to find stuff new too. I have recently added yogurt. But I guess we cant try much more till he gets some teeth in....he has teeth they just arent functional yet :)

  • We also got Earth Best purees or Gerber organic when we didn't make our own purees.
