We have a pretty basic model, the Fisher Price lights and sounds. Our house isn't very big and most of the time we can hear her if she wakes up without but have it in case we are watching tv loudly or doing something outside or in the basement and want to check in to see if she is awake.
I have the bebe sounds video monitor and love it. Video monitors are the way to go. My friends have Summer infant video monitors and I like that one more but my neighbor has it too and they interfere.
Re: Mommies-- Monitor Recc?
We have this one. It works perfectly.

Angel Care
Sometimes DS does not coo or move at night and i would worry he had stopped breathing. The AC will set off a alarm if they stop breathing.
