I have a really great friend. She is so sweet, and I love her to death!
Her name is Ana. Her middle name is Lauren. When she signs her name, she writes: Ana L. Herlastname
Her husband recently noticed and pointed out to us that her first name and middle initial spell Anal.
Their daughter's middle name is Lana (pr: Lawn-uh) b/c it is Ana's middle initial and first name. So their daughter's middle name is Anal spelled backward.
I can't believe none of us noticed it before. I guess it's not a huge issue, but my husband almost spit out the water he was drinking when it was first pointed out to us.
Moral of the story: Check and double check your future kids' names. It's okay to be a little anal about it ![]()
Re: Make sure to check and double check!
Well, did your friend ever notice it before her husband did? If not, then it probably has not been that big of a deal in her life.
But I agree that checking and re-checking every angle is worth it!
I'm failing to see the big deal in this. Yes, it spells something not so nice, but the free world isn't going to think twice about it when she's just randomly signing her name. And honestly, how often is Lana going to spell her name backwards?
It is kind of funny though and I do play around with initials on my kids names just to be safe.
I still think that Lana is okay. It has never crossed my mind that Lana = "anal" spelled backwards. Then again, someone pointed out to me for the first time a few days ago that you "can't spell 'vagina' without 'Gavin'", and it bothered me enough to strike the name from our list!
Now, Ana L. definitely is noticeable to me.
I would probably never sign my name using the "L"!
