XP: Goodie bags for older kids at b-day party

Hi- I figured I'd post over here too; since you guys just went through this.

So it looks like we'll have 11 kids at DD's birthday party- ranging in age from 17 months to nine years old.

I remember when I was a kid, I would always come home from birthday parties with a goodie bag.  So my question is- what should I get for the kids? I'm doing a ladybug theme, but there will be at least three older boys there too.

Any ideas? I saw some stuff on Oriental Trading but it seemed girly.

TIA....

  • the only thing 'themed' about our goodie bag was the bag itself. I put bubbles and got a big back of pinata fill at the party store :)

  • Lollies, whistles, and mini super-bouncing balls are good for older boys.
  • I agree about only really "needing" to theme the bag itself.  For his first, we put a couple themed things, (gliders & pilot duckies), but the rest was just generic, lollipops, etc.

  • i made about 12 goodie bags for my son's party.  i ordered from oriental trading. I got each one an activity book, a very small game with the water that you push the button and the balls mover around inside.  the paddle balls.a few pieces of candy.  I had one little one so i bought a board book from dollar store, and i also bought pencils and had them sharpened so that the kids could play with their activity book while at the party. i had two 9 year old boys too, i found a magic kit at the dollar store and gave them some candy.

i also ordered an animal mask craft kit, which the kids liked and kept them busy for awhile. only thing is, they needed glue, i bought a couple glue sticks for them to share
